Bethel Harambee Historical Services ~ COME AND TOUR WITH US!
Part of Lancaster's First Friday

Take a one-hour historical tour with your own personal guide. Hear about the African and his church, the Underground Railroad, the African school and more.

Take a tour of the first African grave site in the city of Lancaster.
Learn the fascinating story about the community, the old Reigert school building (Built in 1895), and visit the Research and Study Center.

Tours:

The Strawberry Street School - Constructed on the land designated for the first African school in Lancaster. The public school design and construction was done by the two very famous people of Lancaster.

Historic Bethel - Learn the history of The first African church in Lancaster. Learn about its people and historical events that took place in the 1800's.

Historic Grave site - First grave site for Africans. Tombstones dated back to the 1800's. Original tombstones of Civil War Veterans once members of Historic Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church.

Woodhill Cemetery - see where the 15th president of the United States James Buchanan is buried. Hear the story about "The President and the African."
